Bhushan Thombre is a neurosurgeon, spine surgeon, epilepsy surgeon and programmer, and the author of The Physician Coder. He builds software for the problems he meets in practice and in learning.

His research on deep learning for brain tumour diagnosis received an award in the WFNS Journal's Grand Special Issue.
